Course objectives:
To review the MRI of the TMJ and CBCT imaging of the TMJ and upper respiratory tract; to familiarize the participant with the normal anatomy of the major contributors to TMD and sleep-disordered breathing; Understanding the correlation between TMD and airway and how it presents radiographically; Understanding the relationship between the occlusion and the TMJs and the airway.
Program Outline:
Day 1:
- Introduction and Review of normal anatomy and internal derangement and how these present radiographically.
- CBCT evaluation of degenerative joint disease and its sequela (facial growth and asymmetry).
- Evaluation of bite changes in relation to TMJ and Airway.
- Review of upper respiratory tract anatomy and radiographic evaluation for sleep-disordered breathing risk factors.
Day 2:
- CBCT case review of Complex TMJ and airway cases
- Hands-on CBCT diagnosis
